- I just spent about 20 hours this week trying to find out why the Cardinal
- MVP144IV2 modem software screws up my HP DJ500 printer. I reinstalled
- Windows 3.1 about 3 - 4 times to make the printer work again, and the
- Cardinal "FaxWorks" software about 8 times, after which the printer would
- embed rectacngular blocks of print in the text, and it would not print
- graphics at all!
-
- I finally got to the bottom of it: The voice/fax software replaces the file
- unidrv.dll in the systems directory with its own version, and also the
- help file that is with it. I could load the fax software and it would
- kill the printer. I would replace the new unidrv.dll with the old, and
- the printer would work. Unfortunately, by this time I had reinstalled the
- "Plug and Play" crap and it would now no longer find the modem, so I
- couldn't see how the fax software worked with an old unidrv.dll. So I got
- an RMA and shipped it back. Anyone else use this modem with a Deskjet
- printer?
-
- After reading this group, I don't know what to else to buy that doesn't
- have some sort of problem.
